ATMEN

Kreation und Weitergabe von Wissen bedarf immer abwägender und reflexiver Prozesse. Dies kann nicht ohne menschliches Gedächtnis geschehen. Atmen als ursprünglichste Lebensäußerung ist Grundbedingung für Denken und Gedächtnis. Im Spannungsfeld von Wissen, „Mindless Machines“ und Gedächtnis lenke ich den Blick auf ein „atmendes“ poetisch-historisches Wörterbuch aus 1742. Der Index der Einträge reicht von Abbate über Ambrosia, Babel, (Haar-) Band, Europa, Panther und Synonym bis Zoroastro.

BREATHE

Creating and passing on knowledge always requires deliberative and reflective processes. This cannot happen without human memory. Breathing as the most primal expression of life is a basic condition for thinking and memory. In the field of tension between knowledge, ‘mindless machines’ and memory, I draw attention to a ‘breathing’ poetic-historical dictionary from 1742. The index of entries ranges from Abbate to Ambrosia, Babel, (hair) ribbon, Europa, Panther and Synonym to Zoroastro.
